Founded in Kettering, Northamptonshire in 1880, Loake remain located in the heart of the British shoemaking industry in the first purpose-built factory they occupied in 1894. Renowned as one of the most advanced factories at the time, the 20,000 sq ft area can accommodate 300 staff members. Business continued during both World Wars, with footwear being crafted for the British Army in the first and the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force during the second, where production reached a peak of 2,500 pairs a week.
Initially specialising in handmade, Goodyear Welted formal footwear the brand have since expanded their offering across a range of more casual shoes such as trainers, boat shoes and more. A broad collection of accessories is also now manufactured by Loake, including belts, wallets and bags.
