Pretty Green S/S'17
Pretty Green's anticipated new season collection is slowly starting to arrive at Masdings.com and we're certainly in for a treat this time around! The theme this season focuses on the late 80's/early 90's acid house and 'Madchester' era and pieces you can expect include polos, shirts and tees all adorned in prints from the Hacienda days with added influences from The Stone Roses.
Each season's collection tends to focus on a new theme, with past collections including Northern Soul, Jimi Hendrix, The Beach Boys and more, all of which have had huge musical influence throughout the years. Whether it be a particular person or a British subculture, PG always choose something of a cult status, archived in the history books throughout the years. A soundtrack of the era that depicts a certain notion and feeling of the people involved.
Here, we take a look at what top thematic pieces we have so far and what do they actually mean?
Hacienda Print
The Hacienda played a huge part of the Manchester scene in the early 90's and is today symbolic in status. The legendary nightclub opened at the beginning of the Acid House movement and became the heart and soul of clubbing. The iconic interior of the stripe taped poles have been reworked into this design, keeping with the blue and red tones that are used in many designs of this current collection.
Stone Roses One Love Print
Liam G has always been vocal on his love for the Stone Roses and so its no surprise that a graphic print symbollising the band has popped up within a collection. There could have been many prints used in reference to the Roses' but Pretty Green have decided on the 'One Love' single cover, designed by John Squire himself. A small trim to the neckline is all that is needed to display this synonomous print without looking too heavy or in 'yer face!
classic union jacket
Pretty Green are quite familiar with a Union Jack print adorning their garments and this season, we see the reconstructed print on a phone cover and bucket hat. The current collection prides itself on being British with heritage and subcultures being a key theme throughout.
Camley Paisley Applique T-Shirt
new paisley print for s/s'17
A favourite design in each collection is a classic paisley print. Reworked to suit the mood and theme of each collection, the paisley print designs are a nod to the Rose's era as well as ..... You can thank The Beatles for making the paisley print fashionable in the first place which can be said to be a reflection of their time in India. The 1960's saw bands such as The Rolling Stones wearing garments often adorned in this print and the psychedelic era at this time took the print to new levels, becoming a symbolic pattern synonomous with this movement. This season sees a reworked blue and red colour-way brought to the classic paisley print design.
