The collaboration between Fred Perry and Bradley Wiggins is now into it's tenth season and it just keeps on getting better! A collaboration that may seem unusual to some, after all, Wiggins is simply a sportsman, isn't he? Well, the olympic medallist is in fact a self proclaimed mod and what better way to proclaim this than by joining forces with a brand that stands for its modern heritage.
The first Brit to win Tour De France as well as multiple olympic medals, Wiggins has certainly made the art of cycling cool and the clothing range with Fred Perry is no exception either!
Each season, the collection is comprised of garments that replicate the '60's style of cycling jerseys with added vintage-inspired detailing within each piece. Features such as zip fastened necklines, contrast panelling and a champion inspired stripe design are displayed throughout and, combined, make for a fantastic collection of classic heritage pieces with the quality and cut we all know and love from Fred Perry.
Representing his mod status through the art of clothing, the range sits well with mod fans alike and offers a cool, old-school style of fashion that successfully combines casual sport looks into streetwear. Wiggins himself is involved in the design process from the very early stages, not simply just another celebrity that has put his name to a fashion collection with no involvement or say!
Our three favourites from A/W'16 include the navy Cycling Shirt, Contrast Panel Track Jacket and the Contrast Panel Polo Shirt. The polo shirts have been styled with zip detail rather than the traditional button fasteners which is a feature of the old style cycling shirts. This is a key feature that has been woven into the polo shirt designs and, along with the archive coloured band, creates a signature look of the collaborative label. The Track Jacket has added this detail to the cuffs which has proved a popular hit since it's arrival onto the site. The choice of bold, block colours form an eyecatching blend and is finished with the classic Laurel Wreath logo to the chest.
