Nothing beats making your own pizza! It’s so easy to do, you get a sense of achievement and the pizza will taste so much better from putting in the effort!
This recipe will make 2 large pizzas and will take around 60 minutes to prepare and cook, so let's get started......
Ingredients
For The Dough: * 500g of strong plain flour (plus extra for dusting)
* 2 teaspoons of salt
* 1 x 7g sachet of dried yeast
* 320ml of lukewarm water
* Dried breadcrumbs or semolina for dusting
For The Topping: * 80g of gruyere cheese (Grated)
* 250g of creme fraiche
* Salt and ground black pepper
* 1 large red onion
* 140g of salami (cut into strips)
Preparation Method
1. For the pizza dough, combine the flour, salt and yeast in a large bowl. Gradually add the water, mixing well with your hands to obtain a dough.2. If the dough is to sticky, simply add a little more flour. Shape the dough into a ball, cover with a cloth and leave to rest for five minutes.
3. After resting, knead the dough for about 10 minutes and then split the dough in half. Sprinkle some flour on a clean kitchen cloth and place the dough on it. Cover with a slightly damp cloth and leave to rise for 30 minutes in a warm place.
4. Preheat the Oven to 240C/475f/Gas9.
5. Meanwhile, for the topping, combine the gruyere and creme fraiche in a bowl, adding some salt and pepper to taste. Set the bowl to one side.
6. Once the dough has risen, sprinkle some flour on a clean work surface and spread one of the dough ball out into a a circle about 30cm in diameter. Keep the base as thin as possible, with the border being slightly thicker. Repeat with the second dough ball.
7. Sprinkle two flat baking trays with the breadcrumbs or semolina and place the dough bases on them.
8. Spread the creme fraiche mixture ove the two bases, top with the onions and salami being as generous as you like.
9. Place in the oven and bake for 10 minutes. When ready, remove the pizzas, slice and serve. Enjoy!
