The Soundtrack To Your Weekend
Hello everyone. Here we are again. Another weekend-another playlist.
We reckon we've smashed it this week (if we do say so ourselves), with a big fat mash up of rap, house and some handy little remixes that'll leave you thinking the originals aren't worthy of your time. Honestly, after hearing these, they're really not.
So here we go- like what you hear? Drop us a Tweet @masdings. Don't like what you hear? Keep your opinions to yourself. Just joking, let us know what you reckon should be on here and we may well chuck it in next week.
Click play and turn this one right up- we're kicking off with the return to form of the immortal Eminem- check out the entire track list below...
1) Eminem- Rap God- In Marshall Mathers own words: 'Why be a king when you can be a god." Fair comment that, Mr Mathers, but we're not sure what Kanye West will have to say after releasing that whole "I am a god" track on Yeezus. Anyway, ridiculous rap arguments aside, this is a huge return to form for Eminem. 6 minutes of solid rap that is just lyrically sublime, this new track has got every other rapper in the world running scared. The Game heard this and turned round and said "If Eminem comes at you, you run." Maybe Kanye West should be the one whose scared?
2) Jay-Z-Tom Ford- Another track from another legendary rapper, this is just typically Jay-Z. Obscene product placement, impeccable delivery and a heavy synth bass. HOVAAAAA!!!
3) Angel Haze-Echelon (SOHN Remix)- We're kind of scared of Angel Haze. For obvious reasons. So we won't say that this remix is better than her original song, just in case she somehow reads this and hunts us down. (It is though).
4) Cyril Hahn-Perfect Form feat. Shy Girls- How's that for a change of pace. A little bit like running into a brick wall? Oh well, it was probably needed, that Angel Haze tune is just bonkers. Anyway. We love the chilled house feel of this track. From Friday to Sunday night, it does no end of jobs, whether you're off out or staying in. Bang it on.
5) Henry Krinkle-Stay- Carrying on the relaxed vibes with this Henry Krinkle track (what a name that is by the way), it's damn good when it gets built up, so be patient. Don't be one of those annoying people that skip tracks after ten seconds for crying out loud.
6) Goldroom feat Chela-Fifteen (Oxford Remix)- To avoid messing with your head too much, we've gone with the chilled house feel again. We're so nice to you. Speaking of nice, this is pretty good too. Just kinda wish it wasn't freezing outside and we were on holiday or something. Day dream over.
7) Martin Garrix-Animals- Kiss goodbye to your chilled out self and say hello to your dance floor loving alter ego. This is pretty much guaranteed to be one of the biggest dance tracks for the next month or so-enjoy it whilst you still have the chance to appreciate it being a damn good track and not just some kind of Radio 1 air time limpet.
8) Wilkinson-Afterglow- Speaking of Radio 1 limpet's. Sadly this has been claimed by mainstream Mary, the ultimate guilty party when it comes to killing good music. Luckily Mary hasn't quite sunk her nasty talons into this track, so it's still A OKAY to be here. We're glad, because we really bloody like it. Leave it alone Mary. Back off.
9) Drake-Hold On, We're Going Home (Kastle Remix)- Yes, yes. It might sound like your speakers are broken at the start, but again, give it a chuffing chance. Kicking in about one minute in, it's turned a damn catchy tune into something...even more catchy? Super descriptive powers there by us: We like this track because it is good. We like the middle bit the best. The end. That'll do nicely If you're a Drake fan, this may well be a love it or hate it remix, but at least we can all agree on one thing. It's never going to be as bad as Blurred Lines sounds right now.
10) One Republic-Counting Stars (Lonczinski Remix)- Right. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the original version of this song. Let's get that crystal clear before we proceed. However, after listening to this cheeky remix, we have to admit... it's even better. If you listen to this and don't want to go and find the nearest dance floor to twerk/dub out/whatever the hell you like to do nowadays, then quite frankly, we're concerned.
So there you have it, short and sweet, kind of rappy, kind of chilled, kind of let's go out and come home on Sunday morning- sounds like a good mix to us. Whatever you end up doing, have a good one. Oh, and don't forget to Tweet us with what you think to the whole shabang. Why not tell us what you're getting up to with your weekend whilst you're at it? That'd be lovely. Cool. Bye.
