Trick Or Treat

Get yourself in the mood for Halloween with these hand picked garments. You don't have to dress up to have fun with Halloween style clothes, try some authentic looking black and reds and all things quirky. Religion are a great brand to turn to for this haunted type effect on clothing; think gothic themed images such as skeletons and crosses and faded tones and washes. Or create a quirky outfit yourself with the likes of Dr Martens or a simple black dress with a twist.
If I wasn't dressing up for Halloween in costume, but I still wanted to go out, I'd make sure it still had an influence on my outfit. A dress is a good place to start when choosing, in particular black or red in colour and something that can be seen as within the Halloween theme. The Vienna dress is a good choice as its got lace arms and neck and looks quite 'vampish' and gothic. Though the dress is fitted, there's a lot going on with it such as the twisted front and button detail at the back.
This dress is partly a leather look material which makes it very edgy and fierce (after all Halloween isn't meant to be girly!) To jazz it up a little, I'd add this Ted Baker belt to break it up and personalise it.
The Clock dress has an extra layer of flowing material over the front which makes it quite mysterious and 'ghostly'. Note that a lot of Religion clothing is very draped and floaty and great for this occasion, they're also very unique as you can see here with what would be a standard black dress but has been updated with this added front feature.
The print on this top is a sort of spooky night time effect. Keeping with the simple black and white theme, the top is simple yet effective. Team this with a pair of jeans for a casual look. Note that the print continues on the back and has a transparent feature at the top.
Maxi dresses aren't just a Summer thing, check out this Winter inspired version. As with just about all of Religion's collection, the colours are dark and perfect for this season. This maxi dress is quite heavy and floaty at the same time with strands of fabric as though its been slashed. Add a cardigan over the top for a more relaxed look.
Now for a splash of colour; Halloween isn't just all black ya know! This dress is vibrant and eye catching and a thick, good quality material. Accessorise this with a black handbag and shoes such as these Ted Baker Alenk ones. When wearing this on any other night out though, I'd recommend accessorising with gold as red looks great with gold and the zip feature on the back of the dress is also gold.
Ted Baker have a good choice of pointed toe footwear at the minute and these have that 'witch' feel. (Pointy hat, pointy nose, pointy boots...) I particularly feel that a wedge heel is comfier than the norm so these will be great in terms of comfort. They're also really classy and are Ted Baker branded which is a bonus!
Dr Martens aren't for everyone. They're quirky and unique and for Halloween, they're perfect. Check out this week's Outfit of the Week: Dark Craft for a way to incorporate Dr Martens into an outfit. These are a fun way of adding a bit of colour and an alternative to having to wear heels. I've chosen these patent purple ones for a sort of Halloween night theme.
