The Soundtrack To Your Weekend
26th September 2013 | Posted in Music by H. Simpson
This week's playlist doesn't have any particular genre! The official top 10 this week features songs from Avicii to Drake to Ellie Goulding! Listen to some Jessie J to lift you up and some Macklemore to wind down! Enjoy...
10. Klangkarussel Feat. Will Heard - Sonnentanz (Sun Don't Shine)
This is a great song, proper summertime track! It reminds me of Ibiza with its house and electro vibes. This song gained 15 million plays on Youtube and Soundcloud after only one month. I think we'll probably see more of these Austrian guys...
9. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Feat. Mary Lambert - Same Love
Macklemore have had hit after hit since they first arrived on the scene this year with 'Thrift Shop'. This is another hit to add to their list but this time with female vocals from Mary Lambert. Great song and you'll want to listen to this a few times!
8. Ellie Goulding - Burn
When Ellie Goulding was chosen to sing at the Royal wedding, my initial reaction was 'why?? Why not Adele?' But I'm loving the new album (might be something to do with her getting rid of Skrillex?!) and this ones quite catchy! Though most of her songs are quite slow, this ones more uplifting. Yay!
7. Drake Feat. Majid Jordan - Hold On, We're Going Home
Drake sang this at this year's VMA's, when the camera kept slyly focusing on Rihanna ha! I'd fast forward to 2 minutes 30 on this video as he's messing about with a story at the beginning! This is a chilled out song to wind down to. I'm not a massive fan of R 'n' B and hip-hop but I do happen to like Drake.
6. Avicii - Wake Me Up
This songs been played so so much now! It was a while ago now that I did a blog on Avicii and that's when he was number 1! He's still only at 6 so he's done well with this! I'm sure everyone still loves it so play away...
5. Avicii - You Make Me
Another Avicii number! Right next to each other in the charts as well! This is his latest release and only been in the charts a week. Still deadly catchy. Lets see how well it gets on...
4. OneRepublic - Counting Stars
Another song from the American band that proclaim themselves 'genreless'. I can see why from their previous hits; the slow ballad Apologize to the collaboration with Alesso on 'If I Lose My Mind'. This has been in the charts for 8 weeks now and its a good one to sing along to.
3. Jessie J - Its My Party
This sounds a lot like her usual stuff, you can always count on Jessie J to release uplifting songs to get ready to! Now she's quit The Voice, maybe she'll concentrate on bringing more of these out. Still missing the sleek black bob though!
2. Katy Perry - Roar
One of my favourite songs at the minute, the videos a bit weird though. Why does she have to always be a stupid character in one of her videos?! This time she's in some mythical land, doesn't really go with the song except when they add a lion in when she 'roars'!
1. Jason Derulo Feat. 2 Chainz - Talk Dirty
And now time for the offical number one this week... Jason Deruuuuulooo! The background tune is the best bit of this song, have a listen and you'll know what I mean...
So there you have it, the top 10 until Sunday! Until next time...
