Monochrome Mood

For those of you who aren't fond of the crazy neon, floral and bright trend this Summer, here are a selection of the best in each range of monochrome.
The Dress
This dress has always been a favourite of mine. The heavy, thick material makes it a good quality dress for a very dressed up reason. I'm thinking wedding, christening or the races. The midi length is still on trend right now and makes it a more classy dress to a short one. The design of the dress reminds me of a Herve Leger bandage dress, this is definitely the style they're going for. The monochrome colours compliment each other in a sophisticated way, even the zip at the back of the dress is a big feature, being incorporated into a long black vertical strip.T-Spotlight V Neck Dress by French Connection - Shop All French Connection
The Jacket
I'd put this jacket with something smart as it can be used as a short blazer type garment. Throwing this on top of an outfit will totally smarten up the whole look. The hanging charm is a nice touch, but this can be taken off if you want. Maison and Scotch nearly always add one of these charms to their garments to add an extra touch. I'm always intrigued to see what charm they've added when the new items come in.Rock Blazer by Maison Scotch - Shop All Maison Scotch
The Shoe
We've seen a lot of Ted Baker this Summer, and once again I've added an item from the range. As well as patent flip flops with bow detailing, there are also some dolly shoes. The shoe is made from rubber and plastic and the best part is...they're scented! The shoe is a statement shoe and instantly recognisable to others as Ted Baker. For Christmas though, I think I'd prefer these Safire one's with a sparkly bow.Jolee Ballet Bow Pump by Ted Baker - Shop All Ted Baker
The Bag
A bag like this is ideal to take to a festival or to use as hand luggage on a plane. Its only the pocket part which is monochrome- it think it'd be too much if the whole bag was! These bags come in loads of colours and patterns, I think I'll be taking one to Creamfields.Houndstooth Pocket Backpack by Mi-Pac - Shop All Mi-Pac
The Accessory
This scarf is very 'Alexander McQueen'. Skulls have been very popular in terms of trend this past year (I've even seen them on people's nails) and the best way to wear this grungy, rock look is monochrome. The best way to wear this right now would be to simply put round your neck without looping it round and round so the whole thing is hanging down. This would look great with a leather look jacket like this new French Connection one we've got in.Skull Print Scarf by White Leaf - Shop All White Leaf
The Watch
This watch is soft and light and plain and simple. The monochrome colour of the watch makes it stand out and remember that its easier to match things with a black watch as it goes with everything. In terms of watches I only really go for a black or gold, if I want to add brightness, I do it through a necklace.Sili Watch by Ice Watch - Shop All Ice Watch
