The gentleman's brogue boot: it's a style staple. A classic. A must have for any man, and any occasion.
The impending cold of the winter demands a boot that can chaperon you through puddle and snow lined streets- and there's not many styles better at it than the brogue.
But how should you wear the brogue boot? It's a massive misconception that the full brogue style is to be reserved for formal occasions-this is couldn’t be further from the truth.
The brogue is now a major player in casual wear, as smarter style slowly leaks its way into main stream fashion. So there's no excuse to avoid smartening up your everyday look.
Brogues are incredibly versatile. They work with loads of different looks…
Take the H by Hudson Bloomfield boot (above). Finished in a rich Burgundy colour, it has a slightly chunkier profile, giving the wearer more of a retro image. Some brogues have recently gone slimmer, offering a smaller profile when they're on- but these boots stay true to their roots, keeping the traditional grade expected by die hard brogue lovers.
Clockwise, from top:
- Dockers Alpha khaki in brown: One of the worlds oldest and most famous chino brands, Dockers have designed one of the best loved cuts going with the Alpha Khaki. Offering a tapered fit that allows enough room to be comfortable without being too loose or skinny, the Alpha Khaki is the perfect chino for any occasion. It’s also available in loads of colours. Go for something darker such as navy, brown, or khaki (shown underneath the Bloomfield boots) if your going for a smarter look.
- Nudie Thinn Finn in dry organic: An amazing denim brand with a fast growing reputation, Nudie create their jeans using 100% organic cotton. Thinn Finn is one of their skinnier fits, and looks best rolled up to hover just above the brogue boots ankle section.
- Armani Jeans Cord: There's no questioning cord's comeback; it's set to be one of the biggest trends over the winter. This cord by Armani Jeans is classically cut. It sits higher on the waist and is straight legged, perfect for that country gent look.
- G-Star 3301 straight in raw: One of the worlds most infamous denim brands, G-Star have a talent for making quality jeans. Finished here in a raw wash, these are cut slightly looser around the ankle. Roll them up to hover around the ankle section, unlike the Nudie's, they won’t be tight and will give you more of a denim head look.
- Diesel Larkee 8Z8: Another giant in the world of denim, the Larkee is a straight fitting jean. We've chosen the 8Z8 wash to go with these boots-the dark colours compliment each other for the perfect smart casual look. Wear them rolled down with a slight turn up, and concentrate the attention to the brogue detail on the toe of the boot.
- Dockers Alpha Khaki Cord: An identical cut to the chinos of the same name, this pair is finished in a brown cord. Unlike the Armani's, these offer more a fashion fit, being lower on the waist and more fitted on the leg- perfect for rolling up and showing the boots ankle details.
- Anerkjendt Jaden Jean in raw: Selvedge edge denim is becoming a rarity nowadays, so it's great to see this pair from new brand Anerkjendt keeping true to denims huge history. A trendy carrot fit offers more of a fashion statement, whilst the little red listing on the inside of the leg is something to show off with pride- roll the leg up to hover above the ankle and get it seen!
