This season Masdings.com brings you The Barbour Steve McQueen Collection-the ultimate expression of iconic, authentic style inspired by the King of Cool himself.
A household name from his performances in classic films, McQueen’s passion for all things fast and dangerous is evident in many of his on screen performances; from being chased on a motorcycle by prison guards across the Austrian countryside in The Great Escape, to escaping hit men in a Ford Mustang through the streets of San Francisco in Bullitt.
Perhaps one of his lesser known achievements was competing for the United States off road motorcycle racing team-where he first came into contact with the iconic A7 Barbour International Jacket. First worn by the British International Six Day Trials team in the 1950’s through to the 1970’s, the ‘International’ was quickly adopted by the USA team as the best proven defence against the harsh European Weather. The ease in which the jacket coped with the rain and mud, along with plenty of storage pockets made the jacket the perfect choice for riders like McQueen.
Now, to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the International Motorcycle Jacket, Barbour releases the limited edition Steve McQueen Collection and with it create a homage to an iconic figure, with an iconic style.
Featuring many of the classic Barbour styles, the Steve McQueen range adds a new angle to the image, just as he did too many of his own projects. Jackets featuring a photographic or stars and stripes lining, badges of the American flag to replace the Union Jack, and the Steve McQueen signature are just some of the details on this new range.
With Barbour proving its huge popularity over the past few seasons, this new range is already proving to be a huge hit with those wanting the historic Barbour look with a twist. So like McQueen, it’s time to get a move on and race to get your own piece of the king of cool's style; as just like he once said “Racing is life. Anything before or after is just waiting”
